I’ve already learned how to control metadata in Photos so I can get keywords there. I’m happy to avoid Aperture in a new workflow if anyone knows how to get these videos out of Photos, retain original time/date, and be able to rename them to that naming convention. Ultimately I import them into iTunes so I can play them across all my Apple TV’s in the house. I would then apply any metadata and export them to finder. And if you need to edit the date/time/location of multiple photos at once. My typical workflow has always been to import all iPhone videos from my family into Aperture and allow it to change the name from the garbage default “ IMG_#” to a sensible “ YYYY- MM- DD at HH- MM- SS AM/ PM” format. With iOS 15, Apple allows you to easily change photo date/time and location right in its Photos app on iPhone and iPad. The screenshot below shows my sample video was recorded on at 10:23pm but on the right it shows created/modified today () with 7:07pm (which is when I downloaded it from iCloud).Įxample: on the left = Photos app time/date | on the right = unmodified original video with today’s time/date
MP4/MOV format is used by iPhone, GoPro camcorders, and digital cameras made. In a related article, we demonstrated how ios users can add date & time stamp to photos on iphone using a free picture date & time stamp app. It appears any file that is inside iCloud knows what its original creation information is but doesn’t come down when you download that file to your Mac and export it. I need a camera that will burn the time/date stamp on the video itself as.
I just learned an unfortunate reality about Apple Photos.
